Offshore Training Courses

Offshore training programs can help prepare you for the rigorous offshore conditions. Some are required by most employees and others are optional. Below is a short introduction to the most popular offshore training courses, with links to more extensive information on each course.

BOSIET Training (Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training)
When you are going to be doing any kind of work on an offshore asset, such as a drill rig or a production platform, you will be required to do specialized offshore safety and emergency training. After this 3-day course you will be certified in the Industry standards and be ready to work on any offshore asset.

FOET Training (Further Offshore Emergency Training)
Completing FOET before the BOSIET 4-year certification expires will enable the delegate to avoid having to complete another 3-day BOSIET program. The FOET course is a 1-day comprehensive training course that meets the further safety and emergency training requirements for all individuals who are working on offshore equipment in the oil and gas industry.

MIST Training (Minimum Industry Safety Training)
It is generally an expectation that new hires will be completing this course. It is noted that delegates should complete their certification in the BOSIET course prior to starting MIST Training. Upon earning certification from the MIST program, workers will have an increased understanding of the hostile and extraordinarily hazardous offshore working environment.

HUET Training (Helicopter Underwater Escape Training)
HUET Training will give delegates the confidence, knowledge and skills to appropriately handle and respond to a helicopter ditching situation. Various programs exist for individuals to earn the important HUET certification. Two notable programs include the OPITO HUET program and the RHO Aviation HUET Program.

SRC Training (Short Range Radio Certificate)
In some industries an individual may be required to hold a Shore Range Radio Certificate (SRC) to prove that they have an understanding and working knowledge of the use and regulations that apply to a VHF radio.

Banksman and Slinger Training
The industry has specific minimum standards of safety and accepted practices that must be adhered to while performing the role of banksman or slinger. Therefore, the Banksman and Slinger Training course is recommended so that those who will be performing these jobs have proven competence in the job requirements.
